The Silibant Sounds Whistle Kit encourages consonants / s, z, sh, ch / and requires graded airflow to activate a sound or action.

The Animal Ball 'n Net Pipe requires graded airflow from the abdominal muscles while working the facial and oral muscles. The airplane whistle and lip whistle require lip protrusion and tongue retraction to activate. The kazoo requires humming to activate. Blowing the duck whistle makes a deep quacking noise and also causes a gentle vibrating sensation on the lips.

Blowing helps develop tongue, cheek, jaw and lip musculature and respiratory control for speech and feeding skills. The shape and size of the mouth piece allows children to work on tongue placement for specific sounds for speech development. Whistles are a pleasurable and reinforcing way to encourage blowing. Have your child practice with the whistle(s) once per day and work up to blowing each whistle 15-25 times in rapid repetition. The rapid succession will help with motor planning.
